Update on Anna

I just returned from taking Charles to the airport and read this on FB from my mother-in-law:

Update on Anna. Today was a very good day. There is no bleeding since removing the packing and they did not have to give her any blood or platelets during the procedure, her blood coagulation numbers are normal, her blood pressure is good and her heart rate is good. The drainage from the tube in the abdomen area is watery and pink as it should be.
This evening they began feeding her a nutritional...
supplement into the stomach through a tube in her nose. They took her off the sedation medication for a "sedation vacation" as the doctor called it because it gives the brain a chance to "wake up". Dr Sherman said he likes to do this daily when the patient is stable. The "vacation" only lasts a little while and they don't let the patient wake up, just stir a little and perhaps respond to requests like "move your hand" etc. Anna's eyelids were moving as I was talking to her and I said: "if you hear me, squeeze your eyes" and she did!!!!
After we left, Brian texted Greg to say that she opened her eyes and raised her hand off the bed a little. You can imagine his joy.

We brought Micah home from the hospital today so… Tonight should be interesting for Greg and I as it has been a long time since we awoke to feed a baby several times during the night.
To be honest, I am kind of nervous thinking I won't hear him even though he is in the room with us.

So dear prayer warriors, I ask that you praise God for the good progress that we saw today. Prayers are needed for the clots to dissolve, her kidneys to efficiently function, for the swelling to begin to subside (she seems at least twice her size), for her hemoglobin to stabilize, for her platelet count to rise.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Randi
PS If you like to read blogs, check out my daughter-in-laws at www.thegregoires.blogspot.com She gives updates on Anna as well as a wonderful perspective on the power of prayer.
She said that she normally gets 60 – 70 hits following each posting . Yesterday in a two hour period she got 3000 and in the past two days she has gotten over 10,000 hits. People are praying for Anna all over the world and we are grateful.

All praise, honor, and glory goes to God.

Wonderful news!!  I am hoping and praying that Anna will wake up a little while Charles and Dan are visiting and that they would get to talk with her.  What a blessing that would be, I am sure, for them.

Thank you Lord for your faithfulness.  Thank you that you have a long history of being good to our family.  Thank you that you are our "refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1).  Thank you Lord, that you "give strength to the weary and increase the power of the weak" (Isaiah 41:29).  Thank you that you say, "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)  Thank you that you are Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals.

If you have any verses that stick in your mind of comfort or healing, I'd love for you to post them to our blog or on FB today!!  My mom always taught me growing up the importance of praying God's Word back to Him.  His Word is "living and active and sharper than a double-edged sword" (Hebrews 4:12).  His Word "does not return to Him empty, but it does accomplish what He desires it to do" (Isaiah 55:11).  It is the most powerful weapon we have as believers.

We ask that you continue to pray, as Anna still has challenges in front of her, but we are resting in thankfulness this morning, knowing that the prayers of the saints have graced the throne room of the King.

Love to all,

Kirsten

  1. I often pray that "God of all comfort" will be a comfort to those in a situation. What a phrase and why so many are able to be a comfort to you and your family! From 2 Corinthians 1:3 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

  2. So good to hear she is stablizing. Ps 5:1-3 "Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O LORD I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. . . . vs 11-12 let all who take refuge in you be glad;let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as a shield." Ps 91: 1-2 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust." . . .14-15 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, " I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation." Will continue to pray to our Lord, Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals, for Anna's complete recovery and comfort to her family.

  3. As I read your blog this morning the first verse to pop into my head was Psalm 23, "The Lord is my shepherd, I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley I will not be aftraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and staff they protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever." (NLT)He is our comforter and provider, I pray His presence to surround the family during this time that they will know His peace.

  4. I had been reading from 2 Cor. 1 when I first heard of Anna's critical condition - how "near to death" she was... and following up on the verse posted above (2Cor. 1:3), I was pondering vs. 8-11: "...we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many." May He delight to "deliver us again." Thank you for calling us to remember God's faithfulness, Kirsten, and reminding us that we can be "resting in thankfulness this morning, knowing that the prayers of the saints have graced the throne room of the King." ~Lori McC

  5. Hi Kirsten; I don't know you, but know friends of yours; I have been praying for Anna and your entire family because I believe our God is great and wants us to call to Him in prayer. You are right we are to be the hands and feet of the body and I rejoice with you for the good news of the last 24 hours. I came to our women's bible study this morning and several friends and I were checking to see how Anna did last night; just to show you how many are praying for your sister. Amazing the body of Christ! Eternity will be glorious...but in the mean time I am praying for your family and will continue to praise God when He lifts Anna off that hospital bed.
Ps. 34:1- 7, 17,18 "I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them...The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them, he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken..."
    In Him a praying friend

  6. Hi Kirsten, Thanks so much for posting updates. Thought so much about Anna and prayed for her throughout the night. I looked forward to checking for an update on your blog this morning. We have been praying for Anna and the whole family. This morning I was reading Psalm 77. Then I read your blog asking for a verse that has been uplifting. When our daughter was in the hospital having seizures years ago, I remember reading Psalm 77. I especially found comfort in verse 11: "I will remember the deeds of the Lord, yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider your mighty deeds." Let us remember how much God has done for us in the past and how much He will do in the future. We serve a mighty God who created the entire universe from the stars right down to the grains of sand. We will continue to pray with faith for healing and that the whole family rests in His sovereignty.

  7. Amy L told me about Anna and shared this update..
I am currently pregnant with my 7th...

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Cor. 12:9
